When was EIKOS established?
EIKOS was first established in 1968 then reorganized as a private corporation in 1984. The main house at 1867 Commonwealth Avenue was purchased in 1975.
Who does EIKOS treat?
Over the years we have treated hundreds of clients, 25 years and older, with diagnoses such as schizophrenia; schizoaffective, bipolar, or anxiety disorders; and major depression; as well as those with other mental health conditions and challenges
Do you take individuals from anywhere in the country?
Yes. Our residents come from all over the USA. We have also welcomed residents from outside the United States who have family connections in the USA.
Do you involve and support family members?
Yes — families are our most important stakeholders and we are grateful for their trust in us. We work closely and sensitively with families to provide the best care we possibly can, and to improve their relationships with their loved ones.
How long is the average stay in your program?
There are different modes: short term and long term. Short term stays last anywhere from nine to eighteen months. Long term stays can be anywhere between two and twenty years or longer. We have found that long term difficulties need long term solutions. Many residents choose EIKOS as their home for an optimally functional life in which they can flourish in many ways for years. If you would like to stay short term, we will help you develop the skills necessary to move on. If you choose to stay long term, we will make sure you feel like EIKOS is your new home.
What happens after an individual leaves your program?
When our residents “graduate,” they may live on their own, move into shared apartments or return to living closer to family members. When a resident leaves EIKOS, we design a discharge plan to ensure their success moving forward.
What are the program costs and fees?
The all-inclusive cost for EIKOS is $14,000/month for the first two months, then $12,000/month thereafter. This includes room, board, medication administration, individual and group counseling, coordination of and transportation to appointments. What is not covered are the insurance-covered costs of psychiatrists, therapists, and other medical team members; and the actual cost of medication.
Are marijuana, alcohol, cigarettes and vaping allowed at EIKOS?
Marijuana and alcohol are strictly prohibited. Alcohol and drugs can be very counterproductive to the treatment of mental health disorders. Smoking cigarettes and vaping are allowed outside the residences.
Do you accept insurance?
Unfortunately, insurance will not pay for EIKOS. Our industry has not been successful to date in having insurance pay for this type of residential treatment.
