Life in Boston, MA
Our residences have been selected so that our houses and apartments are part of the neighborhood– inconspicuous and non-institutional. Residents live as part of the larger community, as a neighbor to everyone.
Our clients will experience the richness and variety that Boston has to offer: visits to museums, cultural events and activities, parks, hiking trails, beaches, historical sites, volunteer opportunities, academic programs at the variety of colleges, universities, and community education programs within and surrounding our neighborhood.
Our Past and Present
Founded in 1968, EIKOS has over 50 years of successful and effective residential rehabilitation experience. We are licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health and are a proud member of the prestigious American Residential Treatment Association.
EIKOS serves clients 25 years and older with major psychiatric diagnoses: schizophrenia, schizoaffective, bipolar, or anxiety disorders; and major depression. In addition, we serve adults with varied psycho-social profiles who need a safe, therapeutic transition to greater health and independence.
The EIKOS Ethos
The name “EIKOS” is derived from the Greek word OIKOS which means “home, household or extended family community”. EIKOS is a place to learn how to live again. Our goal is to provide our residents with the skills they need to live their lives to the fullest, maximizing their independence, creativity, and social intelligence. Many of our residents and staff are musicians, writers, philosophers, artists, athletes, and lifelong learners. We welcome everyone regardless of race, ethnicity, creed, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.
Many of our clients have gone on to live independently, attain full or part-time employment, and even start families. Our goal is to see our residents living the happy, healthy life of their dreams whether that means graduating from EIKOS or adopting EIKOS as their chosen lifelong home.
